Today is a day for getting things done. Forget the excuses and just get down to work. Once you do you’ll get in the groove and it will become easier. On the other hand, if you hesitate, your job of the day will become finding ways to get out of working and that will not be to your advantage in many ways.
HMMMMMM…
Natasha Khan and her fantastic band have enough artistic talent to wrap the world over three times.

I was fortunate enough to catch Bat for Lashes play at the enchanting Doug Fir Lounge this past spring and just as blessed to see them last week at The Wonder Ballroom. Granted, while it’s a well known fact that no other venue in Portland can match the relaxed and intimate atmosphere boasted by Doug Fir, I will say that watching Bat for Lashes captivate the audience for a second time was something like witchcraft.
The way Natasha’s haunting voice carried through the audience accompanied by the chilling notes of her auto-harp during a special rendition of, “Percilla” was simply breathtaking. The drums literally shook you from the inside out and while some favorites like, “What’s a Girl to do?”, and, “Daniel”, resulted in an impromptu dance party, others like, “Moon and Moon”, had you hanging on every note trying to hold back tears. The band’s strong stage presence was also something to behold. Their use of lovely props, lights, and array of instruments came together to create one of the most unique settings at a show I have ever seen.
In short: Bat for Lashes is not just a concert, it’s like therapy for your soul and magic music to your ears.

THIS WEEK: WHO’S READY FOR YEAH YEAH YEAHS!?
September 7th, at the Crystal, schatzi!

I joined a few friends at the Buddha temple over on Powell for a Bon Dance. To my understanding, a Bon Dance is pretty much a celebration for the dead.
Let me just say, there was homemade manju to be had.

My friend Kurt got in touch with his roots:

Super hot, but so worth it. Eventually I was pulled into the circle and ended up fumbling through 3 - 4 dances. I had to keep looking at the 15 year old experts next to me for guidence.
BTW - Got mah 10 speed fixed!

Thank you,
21st avenue bike shop! I inhereted a 10 speed, didn’t know what to do with it, brought it to these guys, and they were way cool. The bicycle community in PDX is a little intimidating and I thought for sure they’d take the salesman route and take advantage of mah newbness. Kyle helped me and explained everything that was going to be done to my bike in detail - why they were going to do what had to be done. Super chill, super sweet, and supah cute staff. Goin’ back for sure!
I normally don’t do stuff like this.
I swear…
